I received this four color, four page glossy brochure in Friday’s mail.  Did you?

The leadership of this organization is traveling the state asserting its concern for urban kids. But I wonder…

What does this picture say to you?

Sure doesn’t look like my granddaughter or most of the children in Paterson’s schools.

Just whose kids are they saving?

I think that the picture they choose is worth 1,000 words.

Do you want to know more about this new group of school reformers? Here’s NJ Spotlight’s story about the 2 hedge fund managers whose money underwrites this effort.

If we want reform in our schools, it has to start with respecting the learner and building strong relationships between teacher and student.  You can’t buy that with merit pay, my friends.

Stay tuned for more information about the Save Our Schools march in Washington on Saturday.  We still have room on the bus from Paterson. Can’t go? Join Paterson Education Organizing Committee for the rally on Thursday, July 28 at 12:30 in front of City Hall.

See you there,

Irene
