50 Book Club
Kids who read succeed! To promote reading, Paterson Public Schools, the Paterson Free Public Library, and PEF are proud partners in the Paterson 50 Book Club.
Every year, Paterson public school library media specialists and teachers help children keep track of their reading. Each child who reads 50 books or more is honored on 50 Book Club Day, held the first Thursday in June at the Paterson Free Public Library. Readers receive a certificate and are celebrated for their accomplishment.
In 2026, almost 1,600 children read 50 books or more up from about 1,500 in 2025 and the largest group yet! We look forward to growing our reach in the coming years and encouraging even more children to read, not just for school, but for the joy of it.
